  • The iPhone 16 supports ProRes recording, which provides higher-quality video. Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and select Apple ProRes. Remind them that ProRes files are large so that you may need extra storage or an external drive.

  • For most high-quality videos, 4K resolution at 30 fps is a great choice for clarity and smoothness. If they’re going for a cinematic look, consider 4K at 24 fps. To change these, go to Settings > Camera > Record Video and select 4K and the preferred frame rate.

  •  Tap and hold to lock focus and exposure on the subject when shooting. You can swipe up or down on the screen to adjust the exposure. This helps prevent shifting light and focus during recording.

  •  If you want depth-of-field effects, suggest Cinematic Mode to add a natural-looking blur to the background. This might enhance storytelling by keeping the viewer’s focus on the subject.

  • Good lighting is essential. Natural light or bright, soft lighting indoors works well. Avoid direct overhead lighting or strong backlighting, as these can create harsh shadows or blow out the background.

  • Stabilize the phone with a tripod or gimbal for smooth, shake-free footage. If shooting handheld, Enable Action Mode in the camera settings for added stability.

  •  Follow the rule of thirds, keeping the subject off-center for a more balanced and visually appealing composition. To help with framing, use the grid feature in Settings > Camera > Grid.

  • We suggest using an external Lavalier microphone for interviews or talking head segments. If unavailable, record in a quiet environment and avoid windy or echo-prone locations.
